Futures Committee
In 2007, Governor Ted Strickland, members of the Ohio General Assembly,
and the developmental disabilities community created the
MRDD Futures Committee. Among other tasks,the Committee was charged to review the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of
current uses of funding for the state's developmental disabilities system. The 22-member Committee was comprised of individuals and families who receive
services; legislators; representatives of advocacy, labor, and professional
organizations; and state agencies. Committee members, representing diverse
roles and perspectives, reached consensus and adopted 31 recommendations
published in the MRDD Futures Committee Final Report which was issued in March
2008. The Committee’s Final Report serves as a system-wide vision and
long-range strategic plan for
On March 28, 2008 a final report was delivered to Governor Strickland and the General Assembly. This report set forth positive steps to improve services, processes, and supports for individuals and families.

2009, DODD released the MRDD Futures Progress Report,
tracking the progress made in
implementing the Committee's 31
